Marawar have been contracted by the Shire of Jerramungup to demolish and reconstruct the Jerramungup Swimming pool.
Initial construction progress began with the demolition of the existing swimming pool and paved pathways of the concourse area. Major bulk earthworks inside the boundary and building envelope were required in order to prepare the site area. Machinery was relocated to the ground pads of the forecourt area and the pre-existing building to prepare the ground for the extension of services and installation of all infrastructure pre-lays.
Once the pool works are nearing completion, the priority will shift to finishing the pump shed, toilet block, shade sail structures, placement of pool concourse slabs, and site retaining. All internal works to the buildings will commence when the main structure is complete. These internal works will consist of tiling, partitions, doors and windows, cladding, and fixtures. External works include fencing, artificial turf, seating, and miscellaneous pool items such as mobile hoist, ladders, flags, and blocks. These will be constructed prior to the last of the feature walls and landscaping, thus completing the new public facility.
The main challenges facing this project is the noise and dust disruptions, vehicle movement, and the saturation of onsite tradesmen performing their duties with the potential to impede on overall safety. The risks associated with trade works will not have a negative impact on the general public by virtue of works being conducted in a wide and open recreational area.
